Legacy has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the Rocky Mountain Lobos at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Legacy strolled past the Mustangs with points to spare, taking the game 71-52.
Joey Delescinskis was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Nathan Spradling was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain didn't have too much trouble with the Impalas at home on Tuesday as they won 64-45. Given Rocky Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Impalas are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rocky Mountain's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Maddox Base, who scored 13 points along with five steals, and Daniel Mbadinga, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Harrison Sandstedt, who scored four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Legacy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Rocky Mountain, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Friday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Legacy have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 45.5% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Rocky Mountain struggles in that department as they've made 39.1% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Legacy was able to grind out a solid victory over the Lobos in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 58-50. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Rocky Mountain's Dylan Larson, who scored 26 points. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Legacy to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
