Choctawhatchee is 2-8 against West Florida since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Choctawhatchee will venture away from home to face off against West Florida at 6:30 p.m. Choctawhatchee is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Choctawhatchee's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Fort Walton Beach as Choctawhatchee made off with a 13-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Jack Marracco made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaron Rowell, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Choctawhatchee: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Gant Folendore was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Choctawhatchee was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Florida ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against Crestview by a score of 7-3. The win was nothing new for the Jaguars as they're now sitting on three straight.
Jordan Hosman tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk).
On the hitting side, West Florida let Dax Robbins and Owen Morgan run wild. Robbins scored two runs while going 2-for-5, while Morgan scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits Morgan has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Grayson Phillips, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Choctawhatchee's record now sits at 9-6. As for West Florida, their record is now 15-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Choctawhatchee has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like West Florida struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Choctawhatchee couldn't quite get it done against West Florida in their previous matchup back in February as they fell 4-1. Can Choctawhatchee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
