The Northgate Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Alhambra Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Northgate's eight-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They secured a 31-27 W over College Park. The victory was just what Northgate needed coming off of a 35-14 defeat in their prior matchup.
Northgate's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kawika Boyd, who threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Rj Anderson, who rushed for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Alhambra entered their tilt with Ygnacio Valley with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Alhambra claimed a resounding 65-0 win over Ygnacio Valley at home. The result was nothing new for Alhambra, who have now won four games by 38 points or more so far this season.
Alhambra had a senior duo take command as Luke Beaty picked up 106 receiving yards and four touchdowns and Beau Blau threw for 166 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes. Logan Thompson was another key contributor, rushing for 64 yards and a touchdown.
Northgate's win bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Alhambra, their win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Everything went Northgate's way against Alhambra in their previous meeting back in March of 2021 as Northgate made off with a 34-13 victory. Does Northgate have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alhambra turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
