The West Broward Bobcats pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-59 to Somerset Academy. While losing is never fun, West Broward can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 395th, while Somerset Academy is ranked 80th).
When it comes to explaining why West Broward lost, one person who can't be blamed is Craig Perry. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. It was the first time this season that Perry scored 15 or more points. Zachery Ginoris was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Somerset Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Henderson out in front who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Johnathan Point du jour, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
West Broward now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Somerset Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season.
West Broward will take on Flanagan at TBD on Tuesday. Flanagan has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Somerset Academy, they will take on Mourning at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Somerset Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.
