The Columbus East Olympians can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They pulled ahead with a 47-46 photo finish over Bloomington South. For Columbus East, this counts as revenge for the 64-54 loss Bloomington South walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Columbus East got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carter Patterson out in front who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Lawson, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Columbus East's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Bloomington South, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus East won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Seymour is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games. As for Bloomington South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Indianapolis HomeSchool Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Indianapolis HomeSchool Wildcats will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Bloomington South is ranked 109th).
