It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Sequoyah Indians had no problem doing just that on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 30-28 win over Heavener. The win was familiar territory for Sequoyah who now have four in a row.
Heavener's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Pj Riddley, who rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Riddley hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games. Jaxon Armstrong was another key contributor, rushing for 124 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.
Sequoyah's win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Heavener, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4.
Sequoyah will face off against Kiefer at TBD on Friday. Kiefer will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Heavener does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
