The Canton Golden Bears entered their tilt with the Gouverneur Wildcats with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went Canton's way against Gouverneur on Monday as Canton made off with a 66-42 victory. Given Canton's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Gouverneur is ranked 504th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Gouverneur still got an impressive performance from Raine Rumble, who scored 22 points. Rumble hasn't dropped below 15 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Brodie Burns, who scored six points.
Canton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. As for Gouverneur, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.
Canton will head out on the road to face off against Potsdam at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Potsdam has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 339 points over their last four matchups. As for Gouverneur, they will be playing at home against Norwood-Norfolk at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Norwood-Norfolk is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
