The Iredell Dragons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They put the hurt on Evant with a sharp 54-29 win. The result was nothing new for Iredell, who have now won five contests by 23 points or more so far this season.
Despite the loss, Evant still got an impressive performance from Molly Waldrum, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Waldrum scored a full 62.1% of Evant's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Luwi Rodriguez, who scored six points along with six assists.
Even though they lost, Evant were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Iredell's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-5. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.6 points. As for Evant, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Iredell will square off against Walnut Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Evant, they will head out on the road to face off against Zephyr at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
