The Discovery Canyon Thunder will venture away from home to square off against The Classical Academy Titans at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Discovery Canyon will be strutting in after a victory while The Classical Academy will be coming in after a loss.
On Saturday, Discovery Canyon got the win against Liberty by a conclusive 11-4. The Thunder might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by six runs or more this season.
Ryan Egan looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Nate Singleton was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carson Seeley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Discovery Canyon lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty didn't launched any home runs.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when The Classical Academy and Falcon meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Titans came up short against the Falcons, falling 17-7. The Titans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Zach Mediavilla made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Discovery Canyon's record now sits at 11-4. As for The Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 14-3.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Discovery Canyon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .501. However, it's not like The Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .538. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Discovery Canyon skirted past The Classical Academy 12-11 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Thunder repeat their success, or do the Titans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
