Baseball Recap: Pavilion Has No Trouble Against Avon

Pavilion had lost three straight, but after bumping their record up to 5-4 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Avon Braves. The Gldn Gophers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by eight runs or more this season.

As for Avon, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Avon's part, Joe Hayes was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Hayes gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Hayes wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cam Gibson, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Pavilion will challenge Albion at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Avon, they will face off against Dansville at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Braves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
