The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas fell victim to the Roma Gladiators''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 62-0 defeat at the hands of the Gladiators. While losing is never fun, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1084th, while Roma is ranked 474th).
Issac Lozano went supernova for Roma, rushing for 277 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry. Lozano really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Ediel Garcia, who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.7 points per game. As for Roma, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Sharyland at 7:00 p.m. Sharyland is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Roma, they will head out on the road to face off against Mission Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mission Veterans Memorial is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
