La Veta will take on Cripple Creek-Victor at home at 1:00 PM on Saturday. La Veta will be hoping to continue their now three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.
La Veta strolled past Primero with points to spare last Friday, taking the match 53-36. No one put up better numbers for La Veta than junior Zamir Holguin, who brought his A game into the match. He rushed for 265 yards and 5 touchdowns. This marked the 3rd game in which Holguin has rushed for over 100 yards.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 0-61, which was the final score in Cripple Creek-Victor's tilt against Sierra Grande. Cripple Creek-Victor were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-49.
La Veta's win lifted them to 2-3 while Cripple Creek-Victor's defeat dropped them down to 0-4. The La Veta defense got after the quarterback against Primero to the tune of four sacks, so Cripple Creek-Victor's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the contest.
