The Dallas County Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Calhoun at home and fell 58-31. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Dallas County in their matchups with Calhoun: they've now lost six in a row.
Calhoun was led to victory by Kamelia Hunter and Layla Gary. Hunter dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Gary scored 20 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gary has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rachel Ray, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Dallas County bumped their record down to 2-16 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Calhoun, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dallas County will square off against Wilcox Central at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Calhoun won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Central at 5:30 p.m. on January 19th. Central is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
