The Garfield Bulldogs will face off against the Chatsworth Chancellors at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Garfield will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Garfield is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Marshall as they made off with an 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Clara Villalpando made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Villalpando was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Valerie Valencia, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jema Aguiar, who went 1-for-2 with three runs.
Garfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Chatsworth ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Poly 4-3. The Chancellors haven't had any issues with the Parrots recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Sammy Roldan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Chatsworth's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lila Mashhoud, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.
Chatsworth's win bumped their record up to 7-17. As for Garfield, their victory bumped their record up to 16-7.
Chatsworth's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Garfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .453. It's a different story for Chatsworth, though, as they've only averaged .247. Will they be able to contain Garfield's hitters?
Garfield was able to grind out a solid win over Chatsworth in their previous meeting back in March, winning 11-7. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chancellors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
