The Central Crossing Comets are taking a road trip to take on the New Albany Eagles at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Central Crossing couldn't beat Pickerington North on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the seventh inning. The Comets took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The Comets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Hayliee Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Central Crossing saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lindsay Russell, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, New Albany came up short against Lincoln on Monday, falling 15-5.
Zoe Oakleaf was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Izzy White was another, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
New Albany dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Central Crossing, they suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 6-5.
New Albany's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Central Crossing has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for New Albany, though, as they've been averaging only 1.7 strikeouts. Will Central Crossing keep running through batters, or will the Eagles buck the trend?
Central Crossing took their win against New Albany in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
