Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for St. John's

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. John walked away with it. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Lima Central Catholic Thunderbirds on Thursday. Seven seems to be a good number for the Bluejays as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Andrew Elwer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cam Elwer, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tyce McClain, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

The win was the fourth in a row for St. John's, bringing their record up to 9-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Lima Central Catholic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-14.

As of now, neither St. John's nor the Thunderbirds have any future games scheduled.
