Section 11 Division IV recap Oct. 16, 2012
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Port Jefferson, who took down 563rd ranked Port Jefferson, 28-6.
Stony Brook was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Section 11 Division IV. The Bears vanquished Wyandanch 14-6 earlier in the week.
Shoreham-Wading River's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Danny Hughes threw for 60 and two touchdowns and Isreal Squires had 50 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Anderson chipped in 168 yards. Mitch Identsohn helped Shoreham-Wading River's passing attack out by catching one ball for 10 yards.
Shoreham-Wading River's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hughes has thrown for 300 yards and five touchdowns this season, while Squires has 13 catches for 261 yards. Anderson leads the league in rushing with 910 yards.
The Wildcats' Anderson needs only 90 yards against Babylon next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Stony Brook takes on Mercy. Kevin Kunst's team is in second place, while the Monarchs are in fourth place.
East Hampton-Bridgehampton-Pierson moved up to 541 from 619 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 11 Division IV. The Bonackers were able to make the jump by defeating the Royals 28-6.
