The First Baptist Academy Lions's found some homefield redemption this week after a tough overtime loss to the Canterbury Cougars on Tuesday. First Baptist Academy took down Barron Collier 40-23. That result was just more of the same for these two, as First Baptist Academy also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Zara Leilani Stewart was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Laila Stewart, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Barron Collier's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was PEYTON HEFFLEFINGER, who scored 12 points.
First Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Barron Collier, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.
First Baptist Academy will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Palmetto Ridge at 3:00 p.m. As for Barron Collier, they will head out on the road to face off against Community School of Naples at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Community School of Naples will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 467th, while Barron Collier is ranked 210th).
