The Monterey Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 14th straight loss. They suffered a tough 77-57 defeat at the hands of Smith County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the defeat, Monterey had strong showings from Aiden Roberson-Barber, who scored 18 points along with three steals, and Mekkiah Henry, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Roberson-Barber is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. Garrett Wessels was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Monterey's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-22. As for Smith County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monterey will take on the Indians at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Beckham Mckendrick and Roberson-Barber. As for Smith County, they will head out on the road to face off against the Purple Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
