Basha is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Desert Vista is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Bears will host the Thunder at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Basha is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
If Basha beats Desert Vista with eight runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Bears walked away with an 8-4 win over Heritage on Thursday.
Ryan Bresaw looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Basha's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 4-5-1 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alex Garrido, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Clark, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Basha kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only managed four.
Meanwhile, Desert Vista faced Brophy College Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Thunder sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Broncos. That's two games straight that the Thunder have won by just one run.
Owen Wheeler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Easton Foster was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Anthony Renda was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Basha's win bumped their record up to 7-5-1. As for Desert Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 16-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Basha has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Desert Vista struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Basha couldn't quite get it done against Desert Vista when the teams last played back in March of 2025 as they fell 5-0. Will the Bears have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
