After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Alma, the Bertrand Vikings were happy to have found some success on Friday. They strolled past Axtell with points to spare, taking the game 43-26. For Bertrand, this counts as revenge for the 30-20 loss Axtell walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Bertrand found their leader in underclassman Addison Andersen, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals. Shelby Schoene was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 4 steals.
Despite the loss, Axtell still got an impressive performance from Jerzee Smidt, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.
The victory got Bertrand back to even at 1-1. As for Axtell, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Bertrand will head out on the road to face off against Loomis on December 9th. As for Axtell, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Silver Lake on Tuesday. Hopefully Silver Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday.
