The Rison Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the DeWitt Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
Rison is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Quitman just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs.
Riley Hyatt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jazlyn Price, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Meanwhile, DeWitt had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They never let the Owls get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. Considering the Dragons have won five games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Khloe Llyod made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Jordyn Easterwood and Harley Grammer did most of the damage at the plate: Easterwood went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Grammer went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Daisy Pettway was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
DeWitt's record is now 7-5. As for Rison, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Rison has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like DeWitt struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Rison came up short against DeWitt in their previous meeting two weeks ago, falling 4-0. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
