The Carmel Padres came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Monterey with points to spare, taking the game 73-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Carmel was led to victory by Warren Blut and Jackson Lloyd. Blut scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, while Lloyd scored 24 points along with seven rebounds. Simeon Brown was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and three blocks.
Carmel's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-2. As for Monterey, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.
Carmel will head out on the road to take on the Haybalers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
