Basketball Recap: Tim Tanner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sylmar over Northridge Academy

Sylmar was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. The match between them and the Northridge Academy Pumas didn't end well, with the Sylmar Spartans falling 72-57. Even though they lost, the Spartans' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.6 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tim Tanner, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 15 points. Tanner's morning made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Rodriguez, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 14 points.

Sylmar's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Northridge Academy, with the victory, they broke their nine-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-9.

Sylmar and Marshall will round out the year against one another at at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Sylmar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season. As for Northridge Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Panorama at 6:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
