After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lewis-Palmer, The Pueblo South Colts were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 40-7 victory over Harrison. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Pueblo South's seven-point performance the matchup before.
Chace Hurley went supernova for Pueblo South, rushing for 253 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. Hurley's longest rush was for an incredible 77 yards. Jake Pisciotta was another key contributor, picking up 94 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Despite the loss, Harrison still got an impressive performance from Darion Marion, who rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.
Even if they lost, Harrison's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Phillip Pogue and his two sacks.
Pueblo South's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-4. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-7 Harrison and 3-5 Sierra (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 35.2% over those games). As for Harrison, they have fallen quite a ways from their 8-3 record last season and are now at 1-7.
Pueblo South will head out on the road to face off against Pueblo Centennial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pueblo Centennial comes in on a streak of failing to score more than eight points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Harrison, they will be playing at home against Pueblo Central at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. Pueblo Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 191 points over their last four games.
