1A-1 Region I District 4 recap October 29, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this week, Anson beat Haskell 62-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
The Indians lost to Anson 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dylan Hanson ran for 58 yards in the defeat.
Bo Wimberly threw for 124 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 10-13 with 0 interceptions.
Jalen Garza provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Keith Woolf's team defeated Grady Benton's team. He completed 9 passes for 129 yards and 4 touchdowns and also ran for 177 yards. Garza's key target this week was Stetson Meek, who caught 3 passes for 40 yards.
James Washington was the best receiver in the league this week as Stamford bested Forsan. Washington racked up 4 receptions for 66 yards. Wes Hutchinson helped Stamford's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 34 yards.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when the Tigers and the Buffaloes face off next week. Garza has thrown for 1,731 yards and 27 touchdowns this season, while Ian Park has terrorized opposing QBs to the tune of 5.0 sacks.
A big matchup in 1A-1 Region I District 4 this week will be when Forsan takes on Anson. Jason Phillips' team is currently in third, while the Tigers are in first.
The Indians made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 13,158 from 13,267. The improvement was largely due to a 62-0 victory over Haskell last week.
