Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A District 3 this week, Lordsburg beat Tornillo 12-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for the Mavericks.
Tularosa took down McCurdy 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lordsburg's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Johnny Plowman threw for 91 and 2 touchdowns and Raymond Saucedo had 74 yards receiving. On the ground Plowman contributed 38 yards. Ramon Retana helped Lordsburg's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.
Louie Baisa's team's dynamic duo of Plowman and Saucedo proved tough for the Coyotes to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Retana helped Lordsburg's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 12 yards.
Mesilla Valley Christian's Tristan Franzoy and Nick Nunley led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Franzoy has thrown for 577 yards this season, while Nunley has 14 catches for 250 yards. Chase Carson from Hatch Valley leads the league in rushing with 604 yards.
As it stands, the Wildcats are in fourth, while Cobre is in second.
Tularosa made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,617 from 12,376. The improvement was largely due to a 52-0 victory over the Bobcats last week.
