The Aurora Central Trojans fell victim to the Heritage Eagles''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 54-0 to the Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Aurora Central has struggled against Heritage recently, as their contest on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Christopher (Markell) Perkins threw for 109 yards on nine of 15 attempts. Ka'Mari May was his top target, picking up 68 receiving yards and no touchdowns.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kurt Rossner, who threw for 156 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes. Isaac Freng was in the mix as well, providing Heritage with two touchdowns.
Aurora Central's loss was their seventh straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 George Washington and 7-2 Broomfield (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.9% over those games). As for Heritage, the victory was the third in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aurora Central will take on Thornton at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. As for Heritage, they will head out on the road to face off against Broomfield at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Broomfield is ranked 21st, while Heritage is ranked 24th).
