The Whitehorse Raiders were the 81-77 winner over the Pinnacle Panthers when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Whitehorse fell to the Panthers 51-47.
When it comes to explaining why Whitehorse lost on Tuesday, one person who can't be blamed is Lyric Phillips. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. That was a full 53.2% of Whitehorse's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Larenz Tsosie, who scored seven points.
Pinnacle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominick Vigil out in front who scored ten points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vigil has scored all season. Cole Barton was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Whitehorse's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-9. As for Pinnacle, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.
Whitehorse will challenge the Moquis at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Escalante focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Saturday. As for Pinnacle, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Utah (Monument Valley is ranked 137th, while the Panthers are ranked 130th).
