The Independence 76ers had to start their season on the road on Wednesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 72-55 bruising from Linden-McKinley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Independence's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Montael Davis, who scored 11 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Amari Williams, who scored 14 points.
Independence's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Linden-McKinley, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Independence will take on St. Charles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. St. Charles is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Linden-McKinley, they will be playing at home against Belmont at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
