Make it six blowout wins for the Holy Cross Knights this season. They breezed by John Paul II at home to the tune of 75-40. Given Holy Cross' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 495th, while John Paul II is ranked 1224th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aaron Garcia was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Carlos Cirlos was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Holy Cross has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for John Paul II, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-18.
Holy Cross will head out on the road to face off against Brentwood Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for John Paul II, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Texas School for the Deaf at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
