Basketball Game Preview: Math & Science College Preparatory Sharks vs. Middle College Cougars

The Math & Science College Preparatory Sharks will square off against the Middle College Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Math & Science College Preparatory has four straight victories, Middle College has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Math & Science College Preparatory took their matchup with ease, bagging an 86-20 win over Stella High Charter Academy. The Sharks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 25 points or more this season.

Math & Science College Preparatory found their leader in freshman Andrew Cruz, who posted 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cruz has scored all season. Samuel Lopez was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Meanwhile, Middle College scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to Larchmont Charter 70-66. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Cougars, who fell 47-45 when the teams last met back in January of 2024.

Math & Science College Preparatory pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 40.1 points. As for Middle College, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Everything came up roses for Math & Science College Preparatory against Middle College in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured an 83-27 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Middle College's Haidyn Lakey, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.
