5A Region I District 8 recap November 5, 2013
Temple's Jeff Carr rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Region I District 8 this season in his game against Copperas Cove last week. Carr ran for 72 yards on the play and finished with 225 on the day as his team topped the Bulldawgs.
Temple added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Copperas Cove, 51-39. The victory was the fourth in a row for Mike Spradlin's team.
Carr was a beast in the backfield as the Wildcats bested Jack Welch's team.
Shane Stafford threw for 382 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 33-43 with 2 interceptions.
Carr was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 225 yards on 20 carries as Temple fell to Shoemaker. Chase Truelove also contributed to the rushing game with 127 yards on the ground.
The Tigers' Stafford and Andre Ewing led 5A Region I District 8 in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Stafford has thrown for 1,669 yards this season, while Ewing has 38 catches for 571 yards. The Wildcats' Carr leads the league in rushing yards with 1,366.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Temple takes on Killeen. The Wildcats are currently in second, while the Kangaroos are in fifth.
Midway took down Harker Heights 45-21 last week, the largest margin of any game.
