The Westside Seminoles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell 54-46 to Griffin. Westside has not had much luck with Griffin recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Westside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Taylor Talton, who scored 22 points along with three steals. Taylor Frazier was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Westside struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Griffin racked up 13 assists.
Camiya Starks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Griffin, scoring 12 points along with nine steals and five assists. Starks is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Naima Foster, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Westside bumped their record down to 7-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.0 points per game. As for Griffin, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.
Westside won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Hopefully Northeast focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 34 on Tuesday. As for Griffin, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against West Laurens at 6:00 p.m. West Laurens will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Griffin is ranked 139th).
