Even though the Dakota Ridge Eagles scored an imposing 77 points on Wednesday, the Vista PEAK Prep Bison still came out on top. Vista PEAK Prep walked away with an 88-77 victory over Dakota Ridge. For Vista PEAK Prep, this counts as revenge for the 36-34 defeat Dakota Ridge walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Vista PEAK Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than James Brown III, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyree Polk, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Dakota Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ethan Berninger. Despite the final result, he scored 37 points. The game was Berninger's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nathan Bantock, who scored 18 points.
Vista PEAK Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Dakota Ridge, their defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-4.
Vista PEAK Prep will take on Holy Family at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Holy Family is ranked 39th, while Vista PEAK Prep is ranked 21st). As for Dakota Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against Alameda at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Alameda comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
