The Cedarcrest Red Wolves will face off against the Lindbergh Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cedarcrest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Cedarcrest needed a bit of extra time to put away Sammamish. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the RedHawks. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Red Wolves.
Carter Smith made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Colt Norris tossed a big game, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
Back at the plate, Luke Thompson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lindbergh got the win against Renton on Saturday by a conclusive 18-8. Considering the Eagles have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Lindbergh got a massive performance out of Isaiah Soto-Hernandez, who got on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. The Eagles are undefeated when Soto-Hernandez posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tyson Glenn-Thomas, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
Lindbergh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Cedarcrest's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.8 runs over those games. As for Lindbergh, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cedarcrest has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .471. However, it's not like Lindbergh struggles in that department as they've averaged .451. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Cedarcrest's way against Lindbergh in their previous meeting on April 5th, as Cedarcrest made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Red Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
