Softball Game Preview: Fowlerville Gladiators vs. East Lansing Trojans

Fowlerville has gone a perfect 3-0 against East Lansing recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Gladiators will welcome the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. East Lansing took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fowlerville, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Fowlerville turned things around against Haslett on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the Vikings. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Gladiators' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Tommi Kleinschmidt was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-5. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Michaela Gulledge, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Fowlerville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, East Lansing was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 16-1 to Laingsburg.

East Lansing saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jessica Mielock, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Talia Dunn also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

East Lansing's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Fowlerville, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-6.

Fowlerville took their win against East Lansing when the teams last played back in April of 2017 by a conclusive 21-7 score. Will the Gladiators repeat their success, or do the Trojans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
