The Grant County Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season. They ended the year with a bang, routing Hilton Head Christian Academy 62-41.
Hilton Head Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devon Yarde, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Tamya Hutchinson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Grant County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grant County is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Pendleton County at 7:30 p.m. on January 3rd. Pendleton County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Grant County is ranked 69th). Hilton Head Christian Academy and Hilton Head Island will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Hilton Head Island focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Saturday.
