The Four Corners Coyotes suffered their biggest defeat since December 14, 2023 on Friday. They were outmatched by Hope Academy at home and fell 93-60. While losing is never fun, Four Corners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 631st, while Hope Academy is ranked 288th).
When it comes to explaining why Four Corners lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kesh Harpal. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points. Another player making a difference was Joshua Barnes, who scored 13 points.
Hope Academy found their leader in underclassman Dwayne Foreman III, who scored 26 points along with seven assists and four steals. Foreman III has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Willie Griggs, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Four Corners has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Hope Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Four Corners the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Ridgeview Global Studies Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 29th. Hope Academy will take on Bridge to Independence at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Bridge to Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
