North Kitsap has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Tumwater Thunderbirds at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in North Kitsap's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matches.
North Kitsap had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past Lynden with a 34-28 win on Saturday. North Kitsap's win was all the more impressive since Lynden was averaging only 14.91 points allowed on the season.
North Kitsap's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Dungy, who rushed for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Logan Sloman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Tumwater put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 42-6 win over Clarkston at home. Tumwater might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 12 games by 20 points or more this season.
North Kitsap pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.9 points per game. As for Tumwater, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
North Kitsap suffered a grim 34-14 defeat to Tumwater when the teams last played back in September. Can North Kitsap avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
