After a string of four wins, The Middle Creek Mustangs''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 30-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Apex Friendship. Middle Creek lost against Apex Friendship in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 37-22 score last time.
Hawke Shoenfeld threw for 143 yards while completing 72.7% of his passes. Braylon Stewart was his top target, picking up 83 receiving yards. On the ground, Michael Beatty rushed for 31 yards and two touchdowns.
Apex Friendship can attribute much of their success to Jaden Avery, who rushed for 149 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Brendan Patience, who rushed for ten yards and a touchdown.
Middle Creek's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Apex Friendship, their victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Middle Creek will take on Cary at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cary will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 277th, while Middle Creek is ranked 85th). As for Apex Friendship, they will head out on the road to face off against Green Level at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Green Level is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
