The Evansville Memorial Tigers will be playing at home against the East Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Evansville Memorial sitting on three straight wins and East Central on 12.
With a playoff game on the line, Evansville Memorial rose to the challenge on Friday. They managed a 21-16 victory over Evansville Reitz.
Evansville Memorial relied on the efforts of Luke Ellspermann, who rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown, and Dylen Kendrick, who gained 176 total yards and two touchdowns. Kendrick's longest reception was for an incredible 70 yards.
Meanwhile, East Central stacked a 11th blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 47-0 victory over Greenwood. Given East Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Greenwood is ranked 77th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Josh Ringer continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also catching a touchdown. Ringer is absolutely dominating the rushing yard category: he's posted at least 100 every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Maxwell, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Evansville Memorial's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for East Central, they have yet to lose a match at home this season, leaving them with a 12-0 record.
Evansville Memorial ended up a good deal behind East Central in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, losing 35-21. Can Evansville Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
