Lutheran waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They put the hurt on the Stillman Valley Cardinals with a sharp 17-8 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 on Monday.

Alex Bernert and Nate Ling did most of the damage at the plate: Bernert got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Ling got on base in four of his six plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Ling has become a key player for Lutheran: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. Owen Anderson was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lutheran pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Stillman Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.
