South Central is 1-9 against J.H. Rose since June of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Falcons are taking a road trip to take on the Rampants at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Central took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 15-9 margin over Farmville Central.
Brody Brannan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Brannan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Isaiah James was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Aiden Parker was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, J.H. Rose had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They never let the Monarchs get on the board and left with a 10-0 win.
Owen Hardee tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ethan Simmons, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joyner Haddock, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
J.H. Rose always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northside - Jacksonville only posted an OBP of .158.
J.H. Rose's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Central has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .444. However, it's not like J.H. Rose struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
