On Thursday, Flanagan opened the new year with a less-than-successful 51-44 loss to Dwyer.
Flanagan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Charlize Coats, who scored 13 points. Coats continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. D?Naela Myers was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
Flanagan's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-6. As for Dwyer, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flanagan and McArthur will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. McArthur's defense has only allowed 27.5 points per game this season, so Flanagan's offense will have their work cut out for Flanagan. As for Dwyer, they will head out on the road to face off against Palm Beach Gardens at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
