The Dawson County Tigers were the 17-7 winner over the Gilmer Bobcats when they last played one another back in October of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Dawson County fell 31-24 to Gilmer on Friday. Dawson County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Aspen Hataway had an outrageously good game for Gilmer as he rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries. Hataway's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards. Gilmer also got a significant boost from Douglas Callihan, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
Dawson County's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Gilmer, their victory was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-3.
Dawson County will take on Lumpkin County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lumpkin County will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line. Gilmer will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on White County at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
