Just 15 years old and already standing 7-foot-4, basketball prospect Olivier Rioux of Canada announced in late June that he is joining the program at
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.). He has trained or played previously with Real Madrid in Spain and College St-Jean-Vianney in Montreal, Quebec.
Rioux garnered worldwide attention as a 6-10 12-year old when a video of him dominating the competition in Canada went viral. Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid and Jamal Murray were among the NBA stars that took to Twitter with reactions.
It is unclear whether Rioux will compete for IMG's national team or one of the program's other squads. Wherever he plays, the Canadian center is sure to garner attention as the tallest known prospect in high school basketball next season.
According to Rioux's Instagram account, his father is 6-8 and his mother is 6-1. He won't be starstruck in Bradenton as his social media accounts feature pictures of him with Real Madrid centerback Sergio Ramos, one of the most famous soccer players in the world.
