It was a good run, but the Navarre Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 75-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tate. Navarre has struggled against Tate recently, as their matchup on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Darius Cunningham and Jonah Forrest certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Cunningham dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds, while Forrest scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 37.5% of Navarre's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was David Clearman, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Navarre were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tate only racked up eight assists.
Lucas Williams was his usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with eight steals and five assists for Tate. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Deonne Williams, jr., who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds.
Navarre's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-8. As for Tate, their victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Navarre will take on Choctawhatchee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tate, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Milton at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Milton will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
