26 must be Cameron's lucky number: they beat Hundred with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Dragons beat the Hornets by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 26-1. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.
Billy Patterson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs.
In other batting news, Cameron got a massive performance out of Wes Starcher, who got on base in four of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Starcher has become a key player for the Dragons: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kason Angel, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Cameron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.
Cameron is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hundred, their loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cameron will venture away from home to face off against Paden City at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
