This season hasn't been kind to the Valley Vikings, who are still winless after their 16th match. They took a serious blow against West Campus on Monday, falling 62-19. While losing is never fun, Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1255th, while West Campus is ranked 412th).
Charles Wilson was Valley's leading scorer, having posted five points.
West Campus found their leader in underclassman Edmund Michalski, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Michalski is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Zach Villanueva, who scored 11 points along with five assists and four steals.
Valley's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-16. As for West Campus, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley will play host again and welcome Johnson, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Campus, they will be playing at home against Cordova at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Cordova knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matchups -- so hopefully West Campus likes a good challenge.
